Irwin (Irv) S. Rothenberg is a wealth advisor at Buckingham and a professional development advisor forBAM Advisor Services. He has more than 40 years of experience providing financial advisory services tohis clients. With client relationships that span decades, Irv’s biggest reward and ever-present motivator is watching his clients lives change as the result of their partnership.
Irv founded Wealth Management Consultants, LLC in Santa Rosa, Calif. in 1995 and merged with Buckingham in 2010. Prior to that, he spent 6 years directing the financial planning department at Pisenti & Brinker LLP and 15 years as a Partner-in-Charge at the international accounting firm of BDO Seidman.
Irv specializes in helping families manage their resources, with a focus on wealth transfer techniques, charitable giving tools, and retirement withdrawal planning. He was one of the first CPAs in the United States to obtain the professional designation of Personal Financial Specialist granted by the AmericanInstitute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
He is an experienced speaker and has instructed numerous courses in taxation and wealth management for the AICPA and the Colorado and California CPA Societies, as well as numerous civic and educational
Currently he serves on the board of the Sonoma State University Academic Foundation, the IAC of the Community Foundation Sonoma County, the California Society of CPAs Committee on Personal Financial Planning and the Green Music Center Foundation. He is also chairman of the Endowments and Gifts program at Congregation Shomrei Torah in Santa Rosa. Recently Irv served on the Board of National Endowment for Financial Education, the AICPA PFP Executive Committee and as Chairman of the AICPA PFP Conference.
Irv was recently honored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as the recipient ofthe Personal Financial Planning Distinguished Service Award which is presented to the AICPA volunteer who significantly contributes to the advancement of personal financial planning as a practice discipline.
Irv is a graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is married, has two grown children: son Steven, a pediatric surgeon in Denver and daughter Karly, an actress and teacher in Los Angeles. Coleen, Irv’s wife is also an actress and is on the board of the 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa. Irv is an avid sailor and golfer and loves to play jazz piano for fun. Irv and Coleen moved to Santa Rosa in 1990 from Denver. Irv is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y. and comes from three generations of bakers starting with his great grandfather in Romania.
