Ernest Clark, CPA/PFS
Ernest is passionate about helping advisors help their clients. He knows that families have worked hard their entire lives, and sometimes over generations, to accumulate wealth. His role is to mentor the wealth managers who will, in turn, support those families in achieving their financial goals.
As a Relationship Director, Ernest guides advisors at BAM ALLIANCE member firms through the implementation of a set of best practices and procedures, helping them to more productively spend their time with clients and prospects and quickly build deep and lasting relationships. He assists member firms in accelerating their growth by training them where to focus their resources to have the greatest possible impact.
Prior to joining BAM Advisor Services, Ernest served as president and a co-founding investment advisor of Jackson Thornton Asset Management in Alabama, which became a BAM ALLIANCE member firm in 1999. Because he’s been on both sides of the relationship, Ernest knows what BAM ALLIANCE member firms need to provide a successful investment experience. For him, it’s all about effectively addressing the concerns of the member firms he works with, as well as those of their clients and prospects.
As an advisor, Ernest focused primarily on helping the owners of successful, closely held companies and their families become financially independent of their businesses. Now, he teaches advisors at member firms how to build their wealth management businesses by tackling the issues that are most important to them. As a result, his work touches a great many more families. And that’s an opportunity he values highly.
In addition to his role at Jackson Thornton Asset Management, Ernest served as principal of CPA firm Jackson Thornton & Co., P.C. from 1974 to 2006. His public accounting experience includes helping high-net worth families manage income and transfer taxes, mergers and acquisitions, and general business consulting. He also served on the firm’s executive committee.
He earned his CPA designation in 1976 and his PFS designation in 1999. Ernest has also passed the NASD Series 7 and NASD Series 65.
Ernest holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Auburn University in 1974. He is currently a member of the Auburn University School of Accountancy Advisory Board.
